Susan Greene, renowned Bay Area community mural artist and clinical psychologist will speak about her twenty years of experience with collaborative community based mural projects that re-inscribe walls in Occupied Palestine. Greene’s talk will focus particularly on murals that were painted in 2005 on the walls of the Rachel Corrie Children and Youth Cultural Center in the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.

VETERANS FOR PEACE, RACHEL CORRIE CHAPTER 109 is sponsoring a PEACE RALLY on Saturday, Jan. 27th in downtown Olympia. EVERYONE who feels the darkenss of this war and wants an end to the violence should attend. We will assemble at 11:45 on both sides of 4th Avenue FROM THE BRIDGE TO THE FOUNTAIN. Please bring flags, signs, banners and all your friends, family and neighbors. Thurston County Democrats are supporting this event and Democrats in leadership from around the State will be participating. Dwight Pelz, chair of the WA State Dems will speak at the end of the Rally.

This will be a follow-up discussion to the January 26th Susan Greene presentation on mural art in Rafah. (See calendar listing.) Greene will join interested members of the Olympia Community to explore ideas for an Olympia-Rafah mural project and a proposed documentary about the creation of murals in both Olympia and Rafah, Rachel Corrie, and the struggle for justice in Palestine. Those interested are urged to share ideas for the project and to explore possibilities for their own participation.

Volatile gasoline prices, fossil fuel shortages, and unrest in oil producing regions around the globe spurred mainstream consumer adoption of the hybrid electric car. But the all electric car was killed.

Join fellow ACLU members in visiting with legislators and lobbying for important issues related to your civil liberties. More details to follow, as we get closer to the date. See the ACLU's web site at http://www.aclu-wa.org/ for more information. Closer to February, there will be a chance to sign up, online, so that more information can be sent to you, before the event. Typically, we meet in the morning, receive materials and a briefing by the ACLU, then split into groups to visit our representatives and representatives targetted, based on their committee membership.
