Sat Aug 4 (12 noon) to Sun Aug 5 (12 noon): 24-Hour Community Meditation for Global Peace at the Tivoli Fountain on the Capitol Campus, near 12th & Capitol Way. This annual event begins at noon on the first Saturday in August, rain or shine, and brings together all kinds of people who wish to join others in silent prayer or meditation for peace. Experience the peace of shared silence with a shared purpose. Come at any time for silent meditation or prayer. Some come for an hour or two, others stay all twenty-four hours. Founder-coordinator Dickie Baker provides participants with inspirational peace quotes from many traditions. A singing bowl rings to mark each hour. Participants sit on blankets, folding chairs, or the grass. Please, no signs. Consider bringing a group from your faith community or peace organization. Volunteers are needed for 1-hour or 2-hour shifts to greet participants. Sponsor: Interfaith Works. Info: 357-7224 www.Interfaith-Works.org/cmgp1.html
