On February 1, USA Today reported on former NewYork City Mayor RudyGiuliani's (R) potential presidential candidacy in a front-page articlethat bore the headline "Giuliani: Can hero of 9/11 win overhis own party?" The article, which said that Giuliani was "[d]ubbed'America's mayor'after he led New York City'sresponse to the Sept. 11 attacks," discussed a leaked memothat detailsGiuliani's campaignplans, but omitted thememo's mention of a scandal relating to preparedness for terrorism.

During a February 1 interview with Sen.Carl Levin (D-MI) about a Senate resolution co-authoredby Levinthat opposes President Bush's plan to increase the level of troops inIraq, CNN Situation Room host Wolf Blitzer said toLevin: "On the right, though, a lot of your critics are saying,'You know what you're doing, Senator? You're giving aid andcomfort to the enemy, and you're undermining the U.S. military in Iraq, who are serving there rightnow.' " Blitzer then aired comments by White House press secretaryTony Snow, who, while critical of the Senate resolution, did not say it was"giving aid and comfort to the enemy." Blitzer did not name any"critics" who actually said that Levin was "giving aid andcomfort to the enemy."
